Our new project at university is in partnership with Forum for the Future and Levi's...It has turned into quite a challenge and really hard for us all to get our heads around but the ideas we have generated so far have been really interesting and I cant wait to develop them more!! Working in a group (we are scenario 3 - a slow and fragmented world in 2025!) is so rewarding if a little challenging to combat all our different personalities at times!! Its a pleasure working with such motivated people and is great to know were all reliant on each other to produce the best project we can!!...three weeks to our deadline and the pressures on...I am concentrating on the raw materials side of the project which gives me a a great opportunity to expand my knowledge on local skills that have been lost through the generations and research deeper into the British wool industry which I am already fascinated with!!

ABOUT ME

Zoe Grace Fletcher Currently undertaking a PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University within the MIRIAD post-graduate department, I am beginning a practice based academic journey into British wool fibres and new technologies within knitwear design. Graduating with Distinction from a Masters in Fashion and the Environment at London College of Fashion, specialising in hand-knitting and the British Wool Industry, I have worked on a number of knitwear collections (personal and external companies), whilst freelancing and researching for a number of exciting projects. My work revolves around the idea of sustainable fashion from a knitted perspective and the different ways to achieve this incorporating the ideas of slow fashion into mainstream society. I love knitting. And wool. And double sided sticky tape.
