Catch up time!!

May 6, 2009
Too much travelling yesterday... back and forth between uni and meetings for uni and photo shoots etc etc and in the end my brain gave up and I forgot to post my days events heehee!! We had a meeting yesterday to decide how to display our work for the forthcoming graduate exhibition... some great ideas and I think its going to look great once its finished and cant wait for it to be a real book!! My tutorial with Alan and Annie went really well, we discussed plans on how to display my work for the exhibition and I have a better idea of how I want it to look and what's achievable!! I also got feedback on my flicker film and have decided to develop this further and make this a big part of my exhibition, so i'm going to be on final cut A LOT over the next couple of days sampling what i can do!!

Portfolio time!!

May 4, 2009
Today was a full day of work again (no bank holiday off for me!!) but last night I did some catch up work on my portfolio to bring it up to date and placed out a few more pages of my portfolio which I can hopefully print out tomorrow if the uni printers are working again!! This week i'm determined to finish my Ration Fashion magazine so watch this space for how it turns out!!...

Changes...

May 3, 2009
I decided to have a play around with this site to make my pictures layout look a little more professional... took waaaay longer than expected but I like the new look for my make Do ReDo Mend collections both in the Church and in the Aerospace... and hopefully you like it too!! Anyhow second full day of work so I only have this evening to catch up on my blog... work and eventually hopefully sleep!! I was rooting around on my computer and found some more great pictures off the internet...

Quick Quick Quick...

May 2, 2009
Just a short post to say the video has been uploaded onto my Videos page... although the quality is really bad so I apologise!!

Flickering??...

May 2, 2009
Last night I finally finished making a short video with all the stills I got from the transformation studio shots...I wanted a way to quickly display them and show the changing adjustable pieces...so thought this would be a good way (and set it to a little music!!). Full day of work today so this evening i'm going to catch up on my portfolio titles and get that up to date and also do some more samplings of business card ideas...I cant quite seem to find the right paper to print them on (big decisions haha!!) so much to do so little time!!...

Studio shots...

May 1, 2009
Today was a very early start with the photography studio booked for 9 (thats early for me heehee!!) but had a great time experimenting with stills on a plain white background- I've decided to try and develop my idea of a short flickering film showing lots of different positions you can wear the different knitted pieces...I'll put up the contact sheets soon so you can see the transitions but for now heres a couple of stills before i've edited them!!...

Planes Planes Planes...

April 29, 2009
Yesterday was so busy- organising the photo shoot, making sure the models all arrived on time with the right make up and making sure my outfits and knitting all worked well together and was organised so we could zap through them in as many different locations as possible in our allotted time - the Science and Industry Museum were amazing and lovely (and so was the photographer) and let us have free reign amongst the planes - it was great to be so close to them and the models really fitted in and we got some great shots. Here are a few development ones of the whole scene until I upload the finished shots onto the website...

Mass Observation...

April 27, 2009
Whilst back in Bolton I visited the Mass Observation Project being undertaken by Tom Harrisson, he has collected some amazing photos and memorabilia from around Bolton to show the progressive changes throughout history, his presentation and interesting imagery looked amazing and it was lovely to see the transitional changes of a 'traditional worktown'...

Research...

April 27, 2009
I was given a great book by my knit tutor Annie to look at of one of Maison Martin Margiela exhibitions... the simplicity and placement of his pictures and the hand drawn elements being combined together with photographs really interested me and i'm going to explore a little more into this for placement ideas for my own work. Back to my own work and I have been folding up choosers again... I now have quite a collection in the corner of my room hee hee with some giant ones really looking good so i'm looking forward to seeing what I can move them on to (at the moment they are promotional tags... but who knows!!) Today i'm continuing to prepare for my shoot tomorrow... got the models, hair and make-up sorted and just onto organising my own knitting collection to make sure we don't waste time messing around on the shoot!

Busy Busy Bolton...

April 24, 2009
Today has been a really busy long (slightly embarrassing) day!!...I got persuaded to be involved in front of the camera (not behind sadly!!) for a side project my lovely friend Emma was shooting for a magazine about Bolton... which consisted of me having to put on a pink wig and pretend to shoot another model in Bolton town centre (to raise awareness for increased gun crime... nothing dodgy!!) Was really fun but embarrassing to shoot (i'm not a natural model heehee!) but the pictures turned out really well!! On my project side we also confirmed the location for the next photo shoot (also being shot by Emma... visit www.emmalouisepilkington.com to look at her great work!) so am busy planning outfits, models, times etc etc!! Heres a few shots from the shoot today...
