Just Found...

March 31, 2009
Just found this lovely piece of knitting...I love the way that the wearer has the power to portray how it will look on the body, the designer can only determine so much of the end product the rest is in the wearers control. Collection One of Haewon Shin.

In Wonderland...

March 31, 2009
Today was a little surreal, my very talented fashion photography friend decided that one of the themes for photographing my UseLess Technology knitting would be Alice in (fashion)  Wonderland, so me being the dutiful friend agreed to dress up as the White Rabbit... although it was rather regretfully after the strange looks we got as we arrived at the park!! It was very very fun though and the pictures turned out great...i've posted a couple below but shall put more on a page on my website i think! The rest of today will be spent updating my journal!

And Again...

March 30, 2009

A collection of photographs from my Nanna and Grandad's past...i love the how aged they look and also how seriously they took posing for a photo - like it was a special occasion and something to treasure rather than a throw away snap shot in time.

A great website - really interestingly laid out, With great bold illustrations and lots of different pathways leading to different very varied design work.

Catch Up...

Great image I found on Google - I love the different positions and how they look 'ordinary' when you focus on one individual one but when you put them together they are almost like a stills film with the white background creating a quite abstract pattern.

Great illustrator's website - misprintedtype.com, it has lovely layered drawings with so much attention to detail and nicely laid out with an almost aged austere feel to many of them.

I love the worn aged look of this illustration...its quite regal but also looks 'homemade' and messed with.

Great old knitting patterns I found on the internet... completely scary and very kitsch but there's something charming about the thought of a mother hand knitting their child's facial features to keep them warm in Winter... however i'm more amazed at who came up with the idea!

NEW WEBSITE!!!!

March 30, 2009
After far too long i've finally got around to setting up a website...After i've figured out how to do some fancy stuff i'm sure i'll be a lot happier with it but for now i'm gonna go for the simplistic look!! I'm going to transfer the last part of my old blog over so it will hopefully run a lot smoother and everything will be in one place...But bare with me whilst i sort it out!! Hopefully this will give me a place to put my inspiration and show the developments of new projects!! Enjoy!!

Graduating with Distinction from a Masters in Fashion and the Environment at London College of Fashion, specialising in hand-knitting and the British Wool Industry, I have worked on a number of knitwear collections (personal and external companies), whilst freelancing and researching for a number of exciting projects. My work revolves around the idea of sustainable fashion from a knitted perspective and the different ways to achieve this incorporating the ideas of slow fashion into mainstream society. I love knitting. And wool. And double sided sticky tape.
