Project number 2...

March 17, 2011
The second project is well underway - with a business plan being written (and re-written) as we speak...although I do seem to get very distracted with drawing pretty pictures and illustrations - but at least it will look good when they read it!
I'm so excited about the possible amazingness of this project - if we can secure funding it could be the beginning of such a lovely project that has so many possibilities!

I'm working with an amazing photographer and documentary maker, Kelly (www.kellyhill.co.uk) and once the proposal is complete and handed in to lots of lovely people that could potentially fund it i'll let more information out...for the meantime have a look at Kelly's beautiful photographs...

Footprint awards...

March 15, 2011
So project number 1. is well underway, with a great productive day of research and planning for an exciting debut of beautiful designs linked to the lifecycle stages of food packaging for their annual awards ceremony! I am working with Julia on a set of 5 designs that show the different stages from raw material, and food miles travelled, to consumer awareness and waste disposal - they are still in the early stages of production...but i'm excited at how they are going to turn out! Keep you posted...

p.s. heres a quick picture of my knitting at the Masters Exhibition, at Victoria House Basement, Bloomsbury Square...

Oo I have also been making a lot of knitted flowers...think i'm obssesed!

MASTERS_11

January 25, 2011
So after a huge panicked week before handing in my project, the elation of getting everything done and dusted and a lovely relaxing break over Christmas (hence the no posts for a while!) I am back and ready to begin my next project...and finish preparations for the Masters Exhibition being held at Victoria Basement in Bloomsbury Square, London next week!

Updates soon...

Video time...

November 30, 2010
Whilst doing the photo shoot at the mill, I also enlisted a great camera man to take some short video footage of all the machines used in the process of making yarn - here is the video culmination of all the processes, I also really wanted to make the processes a little more interactive and understandable so created some short sound byte versions, that my boyfriend very nicely wrote in a poetic way and said in his Geordie accent! I will upload them on a separate page later...

Favourite shots....

November 26, 2010
These are my favourite shots from the shoot - i'm so excited to use them in my work!!

PhotoShoot...

November 26, 2010
I have such amazing friends and family - who else would brave a freezing cold Yorkshire Mill (with amazingly generous owners who let us take over their whole Saturday - Paul!!), let me put tonnes of makeup and hairspray on them, dress in my clothes (thank goodness they were wooly else they would have probably got frost bite!) given up their entire Saturday with a very early start to photograph, film and model for me?! A huge huge huge thank you to them - the pictures look incredible and the films are all ready to be edited on monday whoo!

So after a drive through Yorkshire we arrived at the mill and were kindly given free reign to shoot anywhere and even got to take over their office and turned it into a girly changing room (sorry!), after Nik and Rachel did their photography business and set up lights etc it was over to the gorgeous models to pose their hearts out - starting off in the one warm room of the mill - the drying room! We then moved through the stages of yarn production from the carding machine to the spinning machine!

Heres a very small selection of pictures - not edited yet but I love them just the way they are!

Final Colour Line up...

November 26, 2010
Final final colour line up - all ready to show where I have come from and where they are going - it is really hard to show how the knitting will look in a 2d format - however my garments are finally finished whooo bar a bit of pressing and final tweaks and I will post a few of the photo shoot shots soon - I can't wait they look amazing -but sadly i'm not very good at editing!

I love knitting. And wool. And double sided sticky tape.
